Healthy Land, Healthy People Gathering   September 09, 2011

The National Collaborating Centre for Aborginal Health (based at UNBC, the University of Northern British Columbia), with suppport from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), will be hosting (by invitation only) a "Healthy Land, Healthy People Gathering" in Vancouver, British Columbia, on 3-5 October 2011.  The Gathering builds on the momentum from a number of ecohealth events in 2010 and will move that collaboration from general discussions about common research interests to the development of an international collaborative research agenda.  Thus the purpose of the Gathering is to discuss the relationships between and amongst each other about Indigenous knowledge(s) of environment and health as the basis for developing a collaborative research agenda.  Invitee CRC in Integrative Science Dr. Cheryl Bartlett is unable to attend but will be replaced by Dr. Heather Castleden of Dalhousie University.  Dr. Bartlett and Dr. Castleden are research colleagues in the Atlantic Aboriginal Health Research Program (AAHRP), which is a centre within the Network Environments of Aboriginal Health Research (NEAHR) funded by CIHR.
